ESTABLISHED UNDER NATIONAL CENTER IN BIG DATA AND CLOUD COMPUTING (NCBC)

The National Center in Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC) focuses on R&D and human resource development in the specialized field of Big Data and Cloud Computing and its practical applications, which are important components of Vision 2025. The project “Establishment of National Center in Big Data & Cloud computing at SZABIST, Karachi” will create a hub where academics and industry will meet their needs. The SMART Manufacturing Lab will help students apply knowledge learned in class rooms which in turn will develop a much-needed work force in Big Data & Cloud Computing. The industry will find a solution to their problems by conveying the issues to the research team/research lab who will find the solution to the problem. University will extend their research capabilities through publications of high impact factor.

Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) for Logistics Automation

With the introduction of industry 4.0 concept, the demand of Automated Guided Vehicle(AGVs) has been greatly increased. The purpose of this objective is to design a low cost AGV in Pakistan which can perform similar similar operation and can carry up to 3 times more load than the available one whose initial price is $5000.

Automation of Production Feeder

Currently, the part of feeding Machines is carried out by human operator which decreased productivity and does not allow automation. Using automated feeder, this process will be carried out by robotic arm. This objective will provide opportunity to understand different types of robotic and their applications

Implementation of IoT to Industrial Equipment

The term “Smart Manufacturing” has become integral part in modern era. It provides controlling, condition monitoring, better product quality, scheduling of jobs and access to any machine from anywhere using IOT cloud services. This has minimized many problems related to manufacturing process in industries

Flexible Assembly Cell

A flexible assembly cell/system is a type of flexible configuration that can adapt changes in manufacturing facility as per demand. The system is made up of following 8 modules which can be used as per requirement.
PLC based control platform , manipulator station, milling machine processing station.

Real Time Control and Monitoring

The work on this objective has just been started in which data collection is being done through temporary mounting of the sensors. On the other hand, the design team is working on a solution to develop a product that can provide service to the industry using plug and play method. Furthermore, the data will be uploaded to the cloud through which we can monitor progress.
