ORIC Team Visits SZABIST Gharo Campus to Strengthen Research & Innovation Ecosystem

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), SZABIST, visited SZABIST Gharo Campus to engage with faculty and students, promote research excellence, and evaluate Final Year Projects (FYPs) under the ORIC Seed Money Competition.

The visit served as an important platform to discuss research initiatives, innovation opportunities, and commercialization pathways while strengthening collaboration between ORIC and the Gharo Campus community.

Visit Highlights

The agenda of the visit included:

  • Introduction to the ORIC Team and Legal Services
  • Presentation of ORIC activities during the fiscal year
  • Briefing on ORIC Scorecard Indicators, including:
    • Research Excellence: Proposal writing, available research grants, and consultancies
    • Innovation & Commercialization: Research & Intellectual Property policies, patents, and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)
    • Sustainability & Capacity Building: Five-Year Plan workshops, professional trainings, and research exhibitions
  • Evaluation of Final Year Projects (FYPs) for the ORIC Seed Money Competition
  • Introduction to ZEN Business Incubation Center (ZEN BIC) and its entrepreneurial support services for startups and innovators

ORIC Seed Money Competition Winners

We are delighted to announce that two outstanding Final Year Projects from the Department of Computing and Engineering Sciences were selected as winners of the ORIC Seed Money Competition.

✨ Elara AI

A groundbreaking project that showcases the creativity, determination, and technical excellence of our students while addressing real-world challenges through artificial intelligence.

🌱 SmartFarmer

An AI-powered multilingual Android application that empowers Pakistani farmers to diagnose crop diseases instantly—even without an internet connection. Supporting English, Urdu, and Sindhi, SmartFarmer promotes accessibility and enables farmers to benefit from modern technology regardless of connectivity constraints.
