SZABIST, Team ORIC (Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization) initiates a Final year Project Showcase ceremony along with Zab e Fest. ZAB E-FEST is a collaborative event organized by Faculty of Computing & Engineering Sciences annually. The Two days ceremony continued from 25th – 26th May 2022 at SZABIST Karachi The 4th rendition of ZAB E-FEST, hosted over 1200 students from several universities of Karachi.

The event included CS Final Year Project, Speed Coding, and Debugging, Treasure Hunt, Database, Workshops and Data-Science/AI competitions. ZAB E-FEST also hosted E-Sports, Career Counselling Sessions, UN SDGs and Panel Talks, the main theme being “Sustainability” to allow students to participate regardless of their field of study. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Vali Uddin (Vice Chancellor, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology).

Under the Umbrella of ZAB E FEST, ORIC introduces a concept of Industry Experts as ORIC associates. These experts were originally belong to the technical areas of their respective industry and they were not be in any way the owner of the business. FYPs conference helped students to provide a platform for developing their ideas as startups. Industry experts reviewed all FYPs and provide assistance. It also have strengthened industrial linkages and promote students’ efforts. Students participated from all departments from Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana campuses.

Mr. Laeeq ur Rehman, Head of Takaful & Remittances at Bank Islami Pakistan Limited. And Mr. Faisal Jalal, Founder and Chairman of Sinofeng Pakistan Private Limited (Pak-China JV) gives the guest appearance and cuts the ribbon for opening ceremony.

The Industrial partners were BankIslami Pakistan Limited and D clinic by Dr.Fouzia. Many renown and prestigious people has been the part of jury.Judges includes Dr. Tahir Rafiq (Senior Scientific Officer, Applied Chemistry Research Center), Dr. Riaz Uddin(Director ORIC NED University), Ms.Amber Nasreen (Manager Research Operations) , Mr. Yasir Shah(Manager Marketing, DHA SUFA University), Mr. Arshad Khan (Head of Material and Scrap Management Atlas Honda Limited) and Asif Kazi(Director IT SZABIST) Total 31 students has been awarded the seed money of Rs 25,000 and Rs 12,500 respectively in the FYP showcase from ORIC platform. All the winning students have been instructed to prototype or execute the idea.
